Objectives

Project The European Integration process from the past to the future (Past2Future) has the following objectives:

  • To enable people to deepen their knowledge of the EU history, values, and integration process by stimulating an informed public debate and better understanding of EU’s achievements and benefits.
  • To foster the sense of belonging to the European family and EU among its citizens and provide them with the opportunity to interact actively, to participate and construct a stronger Europe, based on the lessons from the past and by enrolling them actively in the coming 2028 EP elections.
  • To empower the young citizens to play a full part in the democratic life of the EU at local/regional and European level by providing a “public open space” considering gender equality and non-discrimination issues, and by giving them a chance to present freely and openly their views on the European integration past and future.
  • By involving wider community in the promotion of EU history and integration, to build close cooperation on communal level between the local actors (CSOs, institutions, LA/RA and public sector) and strengthen the skills and capabilities of all actors, including CSOs representatives.

Target groups

  • Past2Future project will give an open forum to citizens, young generations, testimonials, researchers, educational stakeholders, and politicians from 7 MS to meet, learn, debate and analyse 9 significant historical events and achievements that took place on the European continent in the last century and marked the contemporary European Union – from the Shuman Declaration and idea of Unity to the last decade of EU achievements and debate on the Future of Europe.
  • Approximately 750 directly involved adult citizens from 7 EU countries will explore and promote to all generations the defining moments and reference points of European integration, its history, and how these changes have in practice affected the daily lives of the Europeans.
